Once upon a time, six children stumbled upon a wild place hidden deep in the moors, shrouded by secrets and fog. There we played a game among the roses and the thorns that would change us forever, that would follow us the rest of our lives. A game that ended with a hard kiss in the rain and tattered flower petals fluttering from above…
And twelve years later, we’re back.
I’m not going to dream of a forgotten place covered in thorns every night.
I won’t be enchanted by Thornchapel and its glossy, glamorous people. I’m not going to fall in love or have my heart torn in two.
I’m not telling the truth.
Because as this place slowly tightens its coil of secrets and thorns around us, as we uncover the knotted mysteries that grow here, the six of us begin to unravel into filthy, holy pleasure and pain. Fulfilling the promise we once made as children in those whispering ruins, and awakening a fate that will either anoint us or leave us in ashes…

This book! There are no words! I know. I need words for this review, but I am left completely speechless after reading this story. I don’t even know where to begin.
After reading the blurb, I really wasn’t sure what to expect and I wasn’t sure how it would work with six leading characters. That being said, it worked perfectly and I should not even have tried to figure out what to expect with this story, because the only thing to expect is the unexpected.
I seriously fell in love with these characters in the first scene in this book. I love their dialogue and the way their personalities are almost immediately formed. You begin to get a feel for each character from the very beginning and I really loved that. They were so well developed.
The setting of this story too was almost a character in itself. Just the description had me completely transported into this world created by Sierra. It felt magical and beautiful and I felt like a part of it.
I love the twists and turns. It kept me on my toes and had me addicted from the first page. I only knew that I needed to know what would happen next and that ending!! Can I just say that I need the next book now. (Insert Chris Pratt new gif. I don’t have it with me.) I need to know what happens next.
I am about 99% that when I read and reviewed American Queen, that I said it was my favorite. So that may have changed. I know. I know. I do that a lot, but I think I have a new favorite series from Sierra and I am dying to learn more and get more involved in this story. I can’t wait to see what twists Sierra has in store for us next.
